Hello everyone, Karen here checking in! I have an announcement to make...

As of the end of this month, (January 2012) this blog will no longer exist.!!!

We are moving the BLOG to our new website location, (you may have already seen it).

If you have not been to the new website please click here.. www.renoscrapbooking.com and bookmark this new page.

Here is a little preview of what you can expect at the new web site.

First of all the home page is so cute and interactive. You will notice there are banners on the left of the page that you can click on.... (usually there is a photo that scrolls in the white space, not sure why I couldn't capture that).

So once you have clicked on one of the banners, for example the calendar banner this is what you will see...

the current month's calendar will display and you can hover over the class and a description will pop up. Below is a close up of that.

As you can see you can also scroll to the next month's calendar or the previous month.

Now here's my favorite part... The Blog!

Once you are on the Blog page you can click on the title and you will see the entire post content.

How cool is that!!!! I love that everything you need will be right in one place. So please head on over to www.renoscrapbooking.com and click around. The new website will be growning as new content is added over the coming months.

As CHA is approaching you won't want to miss out on any of the blog posts of all the fun new stuff so be sure to bookmark that web site.

I'm also excited to say that I will continue to be blogging on the new web site regularly. I'm so grateful to Laura that I can keep in touch with the store in this way. I miss you all terribly and wish I could come and hang out with you all in person! And if you've been wondering about what I've been up to here's an update. I did a temp to hire job for about 6 weeks in November/December but it wasn't a good fit so I continued on my job search...but really how do you top working in this wonderful Scrapbook industry? Well I don't think you do...you just have to find a new job and re-create your professional life. I applied for a job in late October and with the holidays, 2 interviews and lots of follow up I landed a job I think will be perfect for me. It's only 15 min. from my home working in a small office at our church. I'm feeling really blessed and grateful right now and I start tomorrow. As for my crafty life I am still creating cards and posting on my personal blog, http://www.justletmeink.blogspot.com/ Actively participating in the Hero Art's Flicker group and scrapbooking with my L.A. girlfriends whenever I get a chance. (twice so far LOL).

Well I hope you are all enjoying 2012 thus far and I wish you all a Happy, Healthy, Creative filled year!

Well here we are, the last weekend of 2011. I hope it's been a scraptabulous year for you!

I wanted to be sure you had the last of the Holiday Hours

Saturday December 31st store hours are 10am-4pm

Sunday January 1st we are closed.

but if Scrapping is what you would like to do...

we have a couple of crops scheduled.

It's almost Christmas!

I don't know why but I always seem to be making a mad dash out the week, or even days before Christmas to get a last few things done. Well if your like me and you need one last thing for that Scrapper on your list I wanted to be sure you had our holiday hours handy. So here it is....

We will be open regular hours on Friday Dec 23rd, 10am-6pm.

Saturday and Sunday, Dec 24th and 25th we will be Closed!!!

So please be sure you have everything you need for those last minute gifts your making or that Gift Certificate everyone wants.

As for what's new, here are a few of the most recent arrivals.

This winter line from Pink Paislee is perfect for all your winter time photos...you know that snow is coming, eventually.

Now these two papers from the Christmas Eve Chowder from Jillibean Soup are just too cute. I love all those little penguins.

Coloring with Copics December 2011

Hey everyone!! I'm sure you are all in the midst of all your holiday preparations! I wanted to take a quick minute to post the card you'll be making in class on Dec 26th. For your card, I'm featuring another adorable image from Lili of the Valley. The Copics used are listed below the picture. I'm still working on the stamped images you will be playing with during class. So I'm hoping to be able to get back and list the colors I used for them. If not, please forgive me this time as it's just that time of year, and I still have tons of things to get done before Sunday. :0)

I wanted it to be a card you could use for anything, so I didn't put any kind of sentiment on it. Hope you like it, and can't wait to see you in class! To each and every one of you, I would like to thank you for a wonderful year!! You all have been so amazing and supportive, and I truly appreciate each and every one of you! From my family to yours, Happy Holidays!!! Hugs!!!

Coloring with Copics, November fun!!

Hey everyone! Can you believe how quickly this month is flying by??!! It's time for another Coloring with Copics class and I'm here to show you the card you'll be making.

This card features an adorable Penguin called Pickle from Wild Rose Studio, cut out with circle and Petite circle Nestabilities by Spellbinders. The trees are by Magnolia, and I've used several Martha Stewart punches. The icicle border punch and a snowflake strip that is hidden a little by the trees. If you like lots of sparklies on your card, you are gonna enjoy this one. I've used lots of Diamond Stickles which I'll have available for you in class. That huge snowflake was cut using a Cricut Expression and the Christmas cartrdige. And to top it all off, there's a silk bow enhanced with beautiful flower and a couple branches from yet another Martha Stewart branch punch. If you are interested in obtaining any of these supplies, they can be ordered through Laura at Scrapbook Paradise. Here are the colors of Copic markers I used for the card:

C3, 5, and V25 for Pickle's body
T1, 2, 4, and blender pen for his belly and face
hat: base coat of R02, went over that with RV32, and then went over that with C1 on the bottom part of the hat, and then applied RV32 over that again. Then I took a little E04 on the bottom part to try and add a little more shading without altering the color too much. The main color in the paper was a real challenge to try and replicate. :0)

I have to say again, how sorry I am that I couldn't be in 2 places at once. I hated missing camp but have heard that it was a fun time, as always. I really do miss all of you and the store so much! Coloring with Copics October Class card

Hey everyone! Sharon here! I wanted to show you the card for our class this month. Because most people don't send out Halloween cards, I decided the card would be for Christmas, but for our extra images we will be coloring some Halloween images. Here's a pic of the card...I still plan on maybe tweaking it a little bit, but I wanted to get it posted so you could see it and get the colors used for it. Click on the pic for a closer look.

Exciting News...

Ranger has come to the realization that they TOTALLY under estimated the demand for the "Fall Seasonal Distress Ink" sets. I mean come on!!! Have they met us???? Were Paper Crafters, Scrapbookers, Card Makers!!! I mean who orders just 6 of any Tim Holtz product, Right?

I still suggest that if you want to get your hands on these limit edition colors, get on the pre-order list asap!

I have to tell you, I LOVE using the new distress stains on the Kraft Resist paper! So glad to see seasonal paper pads! (I'm sorry the picture isn't better)

Quick Tip...

for using the Sizzix, Tim Holtz Rosette Die. Here are a couple of tips for using this fun and popular die to make your own embellishments.

First of all if you have had trouble with your strip tearing apart at the perforation while trying to assemble simply add a piece of scotch tape on the back either before or after you run it through your die cut machine. Another way to give your die cut strip more stability is to use Tim Holtz tissue tape. You can see here I die cut my rosette strip out of plain white cardstock, added the tissue tape across the entire length then...

I added Stormy Sky Distress Stains over the entire piece. After it was completely dry I accordion folded and assembled the Rosette. I adhered it to a circle underneath and filled it with glossy accents to glue it all together. It does take some time to dry and I usually put an acrylic block on top to hold it in place while it dries.

I added a button to finish it off.

I've been taking another online card class with Jennifer McGuire and she had some great ideas with Rosettes. Here is my take on what I learned. I use the die with the small and medium Rosettes on them. For this Rosette I cut 2 of the medium ones and then cut one in half.

I stamped the larger one with a background stamp and then using my ink blending tool added a lighter blue color.

On the smaller strip I used my ink blending tool to add the Orange color distress ink and then adhered that strip across the middle using glossy accents to secure it .

Once it was dry I accordion folded it and glued the ends together.

After adhering it to a circle and letting it dry completely I used my ink blending tool to add some brown ink and a button to finish it off.

You can also vary the size of your rosette's by adding another strip off the edge to create a wider strip which will create a larger Rosette, or by cutting some off the edge to create a smaller one. Here is a card where I added the smaller strip to the larger strip using a double sided paper...

Hope you have fun creating Rosettes...and if you don't have this fun die we can always order one for you or you can make these on your own using a score board.

as I am about the new colors of Ranger Distress STAINS?

Hey everyone, Karen here taking over the blog again. If you know me you know that I can't wait to get my hands on all these new colors! And they are all in stock here at Scrapbook Paradise!!!! I've already put my order in with Laura and they are headed my way.

Last weekend I spent a day playing with the colors I have and I just had a blast. Here are some of the cards I created using the stains.

For these 2 cards I stamped a piece of white cardstock (the smooth side of Bazzill) with Ranger Embossing Ink, covered it with Opaque White Embossing Powder and heat set. The stamp I used is a newer Hero Arts, Flower Dot Background CG330 (one of my new favorites!)

Next I put a generous amount of distress stain onto my craft sheet and laid my cardstock into it. For the first card I used Spun Sugar and added in a little "Pearl" Perfect Pearls into the stain. (I wish you could see the shine better in the photo.) Once dry I die cut the shape using Spellbinders Label #8.

The second card was done in the same way using Antique Linen distress stain. For this one I added in some "Sunflower" Perfect Pearl for some added shimmer. Once dry I die cut it using the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Die.

The technique I used on these last two is like the "wrinkle free distress" technique. For this you just put several colors of stain down onto the craft sheet and lay your cardstock into it, drag it through a bit until you get the desired effect. Once it's dry you can stamp on it, die cut it, journal on it ect.

The colors I used for these two were Wild Honey, Broken China and Peeled Paint. On the second one I stamped with embossing ink and covered it with "Copper" Perfect Pearls (remember if you use perfect pearl or embossing powder on your stained pieces it must be dry or heat set before you apply the powder).

Now that the stains come in all 36 colors PLUS Pickett Fence the possibilities are endless!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I love to decorate the house with my paper projects, make cards for friends & family, and scrapbook the good times I have with this season!!!

Hello, I'm back with another post of some of my favorite CHA Summer products.

From Fancy Pants Designs, we have a new School line which is adorable.

Next is their Summer's End Collection...I love the whimsical prints and warm colors in this line. I'm thinking fall!

Next is "Oct 31" This Halloween line is fun and sophisticate all at the same time. I love the little witch's hats.

And last but not least from Fancy Pants is "St. Nick". I love the nostalgic feel of this one.

Another fun collection comes from Graphic 45, this school themed paper is awesome!!! "ABC Primer"

I'm taking over the blog ;-0. It's Karen here, checking in from sunny Southern California! How are you guys? I miss the store and all of you so much! I hope you're all enjoying your summer. Can you believe July is almost over. July is truly one of my favorite months...wanna know why??? Because Summer CHA just ended and all the new fun product will start shipping....whoooooo hooooo! I can't wait. Even though I'm not there I am still keeping my finger on the pulse of the scrapbooking/paper crafting community. I thought I would share with you some of my favorite things from the show, SO FAR!

Please let Laura know we NEEEEED all of it, hahaha...

First up is 3 Bugs in a Rug. They always have the cutest paper lines and release sure didn't disappoint! I'm sharing just a few papers from each line with you here today but there is so much more.

Under the Sea:

I just love the little subs and the schools of fish!

Ashton:

The first paper shows bit's of all the papers in the line. I love those zebra stripes and the sweet little flowers.

Bake me a Cake:

I love these fun and colorful papers. Perfect for any type of celebration, not just birthdays! This line would also be perfect for a baking themed page or project.

And can you say Christmas in July!!!

Deck the Halls:

I am already thinking about my Christmas cards! I hope to have them done this year by the 1st of December. That would be a first for me, but hey it's nice to have a goal right?

The other think I love about 3 Bugs is that all their paper is double sided, more bang for your buck!

Hopscotch, Euphoria, and Sweet Threads have Arrived!!!

Basic Grey has come out with some great new lines. The "Hopscotch" and "Euphoria" lines include soft pastel colors which are great for springtime cards and papercrafting. And the "Sweet Threads" boast bolder colors for Summer and Fall. We also included the adorable Card Kit and embellishments which compliment the line perfectly!

Die Cut Club Recap!

Stacey taught her first Die Cut Club Class Monday night and it was a hit!

The picture above shows her new project tags. In the Die Cut Club Class each student leaves with a new tag to add to their die cut collection catalog, a free die, & a fun project. This month's new club die from Lifestyle Crafts was the 2x2 apple from the "Yearbook" Collection. Next month Stacey will be offering a "last minute addition" class on June 13th from 6-8pm. Hello Scrapbook Paradise Fans!!!!

Karen here checking in. I sure do miss all of you! How are you? Laura and JoElle tell me everyone is doing great.! As for me I'm still trying to get settled and find my way around in this new environment.
I have my scrap room set up for the most part. A little more un-packing and organizing to do, but I am doing a little crafting. I have to for my sanity, lol. So I thought I would hi-jack the blog and share a little something I created last week.

This month on the Hero Art's Blog the contest is Flower's, Colored Pencils and ATC's. I was inspired to create this card to enter. I thought I would share a little "how to" on the little drop shadow I tried to create.

I started off by stamping 3 flowers onto Copic X-press cardstock using Pumice stone Distress Ink. (It was the only grey-ish ink I had). Next I colored in the edges of the flowers stamped in Pumice with Copic C3.

I stamped and additional 3 flowers using Memento Tuxedo Black. I colored 2 using YR07 & YR09, and one using R14 & R27. After I cut these flowers out I used Pop Dot's to adhere them over the grey flower, slightly offsetting them creating a drop shadow.

Since I didn't have cardstock that matched the flowers just the way I wanted I cut squares a little bigger and used the chiseled tip to color the edge.

I was happy with the way it turned out and I hope you will give it a try. I'm sure there are other ways to create this effect but this is what worked for me. And for those of you who don't use Copic's I'm sure you could get this same effect using colored pencil's or painting in the flowers with your distress inks.

Stamps I used are Hero Arts, CL495 & CL497.

Hello Scrappers! The April calendar/newsletter is now at the store and will be available on-line by March 31st. Also, we wanted to remind you of a few very important details.

1. Please make sure to redeem your gift certificates, spend your store credit and turn in your punch and copic cards BY THIS WEDNESDAY, March 30th.

2. The store will close one hour early on Wed., March 30th (at 5pm) and will be closed all day on Thursday, March 31st for inventory.

3. Scrapbook Paradise will re-open on Friday, April 1st (regular hours) under the lovely new owner, Laura Evasovic (seriously - no foolin')

I can't believe we haven't blogged since last Friday and again it's snowing! Well here are a few updates:

The Newsletter is in the store and on the web. You will see there are some changes coming but we are hopeful that within the next week or so we will have Good News! So please be patient with us as we go through these changes.
We have new product arriving almost daily. See below for this week's photo update.
With all this snow and the cold temperatures we will most likely close today between 3 - 4 pm. Please give us a call before you venture out. (746-1212).
Tomorrow we will be open regular hours and classes will take place as scheduled.

Now for the fun new stuff that has arrived. First up we have.....Petaloo!
These flowers are gorgeous! And such a great variety.

We couldn't celebrate St. Patty's Day without Best Creations! They have done it again with another fabulously fun glittery paper collection.

Well the weather has put a little kink in our plans - the Midnight Madness for tonight is cancelled BUT the Crop Around The Clock for tomorrow is still on. We will be closing at 2pm today so that everyone can get home before the rain/ice begins. For now, Saturday and Sunday's store hours are the usual but call or check the blog before heading in - just in case.

This past week was a busy one. We re-stocked some of our basics like Bazzill, Ranger, and a few new idea books.

Stories at hand is a new book from Jessica Sprauge. We sold through the first shipment and just received another. If this has been on your wish list stop on in. They are going fast.

Also just in is the NEW Cricut Magazine. This book is chock full of adorable ideas, along with what cartridge was used to creat them. Also this month's Simply Handmade and Cards have arrived.

Valentine's paper and Winter paper by Echo Park is also in and coming this week is Valentine's from Making Memories.

We are heading off to CHA this week. Looking forward to a day of education with Tim Holtz and the Parade of Vendors with Crafters Home. We are excited to share all the fun with you when we get back.

We had such a great time again this year at Camp. This was our largest Camp yet! Thank You to all who came and made it such a fun weekend.

Silhouette Software Update

First of all I'm so sorry we havn't blogged in so long. It's been a bit busy around here. Camp is just around the corner and our classes have been keeping us busy.

I just finished an hour long webinar on the new "Silhouette Studio" software and all I can say is OMG (oh my goodness). If you own a Silhouette this new software is going to take you to new places! And if you don't your going to want to!!!! Luckily Christmas is just around the corner (did I really just say that? Oh well)....have you been a good little crafter this year? Santa will want to know. Here are a few highlights from the webinar.

First of all you can now download the Silhouette Studio Software at http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/software.aspx
Review the Frequently Asked Questions...there is so much fun new stuff to learn
The text tool is so very cool. You can create a text box and change just the words you want and see it right there on the screen!
Knife Tool, this new tool lets you cut off parts of a design. For instance you just want the canopy part of an umbrella, now you can cut away the handle. (I think JoElle needed that tool just last week!)
The Library is soooooo cool. You can sort and organize to your hearts content. I can't wait to play with this.
New search function works more like the online store. You can type in a word and find related images ie...halloween and you might get a pumpkin or bat. No need to type in the exact name of the image you are looking for.
The split screen function let's you look at functions, such as fill pattern/color while also seeing the image you are working with.
The color fill tool is awesome!!! You can fill images/text with solid color, gradient color or patterns all while seeing the image/text change before your eyes and with just ONE click of the mouse.
Also there is a double cut feature so no more copy paste...yipeee!!!

This is just the beginning. There is so much more it can do. The new software looks very different but is very user friendly. There is also a more comprehensive manual in the help section that you can even print out. Oh the possibilities!

Just a quick update...Today we recieved the new Graphic 45 "Halloween Wonderland" line. This paper is so fun, think Alice in Wonderland meets Halloween.

Also from Paper Wizard we had some custom titles made for Hot August Nights...complete with fuzzy dice.
